How the calculation works
Counting includes the earlier date and excludes the later date unless you include the end date; reversing a range makes the totals negative. Adding or subtracting starts after the chosen date in the chosen direction and skips non-working days. Zero leaves the date unchanged. Public holidays are not excluded.
Frequently asked questions
Are public holidays excluded?
No. Holiday calendars differ by country, region and employer. This tool only skips weekends, using Monday–Friday or Monday–Saturday as the working week.
Does Friday plus one working day give Monday?
Yes with the default Monday–Friday week. If Saturday counts as a working day, the result is Saturday. The starting Friday is not counted.
How do I subtract working days?
Choose the add or subtract mode and enter a negative number. Monday minus one working day is Friday by default, or Saturday if Saturdays count.
What happens if the starting date is a weekend?
The starting date is never counted when adding days. Saturday plus one working day is Monday; Saturday minus one is Friday. Adding zero keeps Saturday. When counting a range, only working dates in that range count.
